Gollum the Rainbow Lorikeet has an interesting back story, so we thought we’d share it with you.
He flew away from his home, and got lost in the wild. Poor Gollum was so scared, he lost all of his feathers.
He was rescued eventually and taken to a local vet who rehomed him at Cairns ZOOM & Wildlife Dome after trying unsuccessfully to find his owner.
Lucky for Gollum, we have been working to help him grow his feathers back – and as you can see, they’re almost all there!
Gollum lives in the Small Bird Aviary and loves to whistle and talk – so we love it when our visitors stop and have a chat with him on their way through.
